How to get enrolled in classes at Columbia College

1. Application

Complete the electronic admission application. Please allow a minimum of 10 working days for application processing. A confirmation email will be sent to your home email with details as to how you will need to proceed. All other communications will be sent to your student email account.

2. Submit Official Transcripts
We will need official transcripts from your High School and all other Colleges or Universities you have attended.

Mail Official Transcripts to:

Columbia College Admissions and Records Department
11600 Columbia College Drive
Sonora, CA 95370

3. Assessment

Attend an assessment session (upcoming dates).  The assessment is an untimed computerized test that requires no computer experience. No appointment is necessary but a valid photo ID and student ID number are required for admittance. The student ID number is located in the right hand corner of the acceptance email. Students are admitted on a first-come, first-served basis. No one will be admitted to the assessment session after the hour posted. Sign-up for assessment is in Buckeye 3.

4. Orientation/Advisement

Following completion of the assessment, attend a college orientation session. Counselors provide valuable information on student services, course selection, schedule planning, certificate and degree programs, transfer requirements, and college policies and procedures. The orientation will provide a complete review of your assessment tests so you will know where to start on the Math and English Progression charts.

An online orientation is also available for those who cannot attend an in-person session:

5. Course Registration

After completion of assessment, orientation and advisement, students can register for semester classes on the web, or at the Admissions & Records Office during their registration appointment or any time after the appointment. Web registration is completed through connectColumbia.

5. Activate Student Email Account

Columbia College primarily communicates to students via student email accounts. Everyone is assigned one and it is free. To activate and/or learn more, click here

6. Follow-up

Visit a Counselor during your first and subsequent semesters to discuss your educational goals, develop an educational plan, and have your questions answered. Call (209) 588-5109 to schedule an appointment.
