FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE   December 2, 2011

The Columbia College Hospitality Management Program will prepare an assortment of culinary and pastry delights for the U.S. Forest Service Chief’s reception in Washington D.C. as part of the U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree lighting festivities.  Columbia College faculty, Mr. Gene Womble will travel December 4-7, 2011 with two students, Jake Westurlund and Rose Anne Wells, to Washington D.C. While there, they will assist with the catering for the Forest Service Chief’s Reception at the U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree Ceremony.  Since 1970, it has become an honor for one of the National Forests to be asked to provide the Capital Tree.  This year, the U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree was harvested from the Stanislaus National Forest located in the Central Sierra Nevada.  Former Culinary Arts student and retired Forest Service employee, Stephanie Bailey, presented this unique opportunity to the Columbia College Hospitality Management Program who was selected for this honor.  This experience will provide a hands-on opportunity for the students to cater a high profile event.
