Columbia College Fall 2011 Registration

Columbia College began priority registration for continuing students today, July 25, 2011. Close to 200 new students attended the assessment and orientation session earlier in the month and more are expected to attend the next session scheduled this Saturday, July 30. Testing begins at 9:00 am and is on a first-come, first-served basis. Last seating for assessment testing is at 12:00 noon. Students must apply to the college prior to testing and come with their assigned student ID number and picture ID.

Columbia College will host X-Reg, or Extreme Registration, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm Saturday, August 13, 2011 on the college campus. Testing begins at 9:00 am and is on a first-come, first-served basis. Last seating for assessment testing is at 12:00 noon. Students can receive assistance with completing an application for admissions, complete assessment and orientation, plus register for classes, pay fees, buy books, get student ID cards, purchase parking passes, and more.

Columbia College staff will be available to give information on financial aid and special programs, like EOPS (Extended Opportunity Programs and Services), DSPS (Disabled Students Programs and Services), and TRiO Student Support Services (new federally funded program). Students can also learn how to access “connectColumbia” to register online, obtain grades, and get instructions on activating their student e-mail accounts.

Financial aid professionals will be available to answer questions and provide one-on-one assistance to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). In order to complete the FAFSA, students will need to bring a 2010 federal income tax form(s) and any 2010 income data collected for both the student and parent (if dependent). For more information on Financial Aid please call the Columbia College Financial Aid Office at (209) 588-5105.

Open registration starts on August 13 and the fall semester will begin August 29. All indicators suggest that classes will be more impacted than in years past, so don’t wait until the last minute to plan for your education. The earlier you see a counselor and register for classes, the more likely it is that you will be able to get the classes you need to achieve your higher education goals.
