Introduction to the ecology and management of fire in California. Selected topics include the effects of fire on vegetation, soils, hydrology, wildlife, air quality, and esthetics; forest fire behavior and the role of fire suppression; the history and current issues of prescribed burning; the planning and implementation of fuels reduction and prescribed burning programs in selected locations.
